Hello!! And welcome to the Donut Eating Dietitian. I am SO glad you're here.

My name is Ashley Smith and I am a registered dietitian in the Tulsa, Oklahoma area. I do one-on-one nutritional counseling for those struggling with eating disorders, disordered eating, and health concerns. I am extremely passionate about helping people find freedom in their relationship with food.

I graduated with my bachelor's degree and master's degree from Oklahoma State University in Oklahoma (THE best school--whoop whoop!) in nutritional sciences. My philosophy on healthful eating is that no foods are off limits--some just simply shouldn't be eaten very often. Being "healthy" isn't just about eating foods that are deemed "healthy." There are a lot of people who only eat "healthy" foods that aren't healthy emotionally or psychologically. We should be able to truly live without food completely running the show! I focus on eating lots of colorful foods from every food group. I honestly believe God gave us food and that it is GOOD. As a result, I am not in favor of diets that cut out whole food groups (unless you have a food allergy, of course). I also believe that eating healthfully shouldn't require you to spend a whole paycheck on groceries! However, I do enjoy experimenting with new ingredients, and some of those are a little pricey (hence why they're experiments or treats, not regular pantry items). I absolutely LOVE all breakfast foods and dessert has a special place in my heart--especially if it's cold and wet. Think puddings, bread pudding, ice cream, froyo, etc.

I married my best friend May of 2014 and have been on a journey of learning about being a wife and supporter over the past two years. And budgeting...Anyways, thankfully he gives me more reason to cook and try new things (however, he's not as quite excited about certain food items as I am). I absolutely love meal planning, grocery shopping, and food preparation (it's therapeutic actually), so I thought "why not start a food blog and have a real reason to try out all those new recipes?" So thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoy what you see!!

Feel free to ask me any questions you may have!
